The Boat Race in Kerala (locally called Vallam Kali) is one of the most famous cultural and sporting events in the state, celebrated with huge enthusiasm.
About Vallam Kali
“Vallam” means boat and “Kali” means game or play in Malayalam. It’s a traditional water sport, where long, narrow boats (called Chundan Vallam / Snake Boats) race against each other. The boats are around 100–120 feet long, and each can hold over 100 rowers.
